My beloved husband loved life,a pint and a bet,but mostly a good laugh with his mates.He worked hard all his life , and never ailed a thing,he never took life seriously,and he lived each day to the full.When he was first taken ill with lung cancer we were both deeply shocked,i don't think he ever got over the shock. From the day we were first told till the day he died he only lasted eight months,i prayed and hoped he would be spared but sadly time was not on our side. I miss him so much, he was a huge presence in my life and had been for over 43years. He was only 62 when he died, and he went from being 6ft.2 and 17stone,to 7stone. Cancer in any form is a vicious cruel disease,and it does not discriminate in age or social standing,and i pray that a cure is found in my lifetime. My late husband, in his youth was a football player,and he played for Redheugh boys club, he won a load of trophys,and as he got older he played for amateur leagues on a weekend.This eulogy was set up by tommy's wife margaret.xxxxxxx

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed He was
walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the
sky flashed scenes from His life. For each scene He
noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonging to
Him and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of His life flashed before Him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He
noticed that many times along the path of His life
there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times
of His life.

This really bothered Him and He questioned the
LORD about it. LORD you said that once I decided
to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But
I have noticed that during the most troublesome times
in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't
understand why when I needed you most you would
leave me.
The LORD replied, my precious, precious child, I
Love you and I would never leave you! During your
times of trial and suffering when you see only one set
of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

My angel's right beside me,
